The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, commonly known by the abbreviation CBC, is Canada's government-owned radio and television broadcaster/wire service. In French, it is called la Société Radio-Canada (Radio-Canada or SRC). The umbrella corporate brand is CBC/Radio-Canada.

CBC was established in its current form 12 November 1936, and is the oldest currently-operating broadcaster in Canada. Radio services include CBC Radio One, CBC Radio Two, La Première Chaîne, Espace musique, and the international radio service Radio Canada International. Television operations include CBC Television, Télévision de Radio-Canada, CBC Newsworld, le Réseau de l'information, and CBC Country Canada. The CBC also operates digital audio service Galaxie and two main websites, one in each official language.

As a Crown corporation, the CBC operates at arm's length (autonomously) from the government in its day-to-day business. The corporation is governed by the Broadcasting Act, 1991, and is directly responsible to Parliament through the Department of Canadian Heritage.
